While still preparing for the crucial regular-season homestretch, the Skaneateles girls lacrosse team made sure it didn’t trip up in any of the three games leading up to it, outscoring its opponents by a combined 52-16 margin.
The Lakers made up the snowed-out April 23 game against Onondaga last Monday night, and unleashed plenty of production in a 19-6 victory over the Tigers.
Strong play on both ends helped Skaneateles build an 8-2 halftime lead, and it didn’t let up as four different players had hat tricks by game’s end.
Emma Ford, with five goals, led the push, while Nicole Beatson, Carly Davis and Shelby McNeilly each scored three times. Natalie Roche chimed in with two goals as Alana Navaroli, Hannah Logan and Maura Tierney also scored. Casey VanSlyke added a pair of assists and Catie Woodruff got an assist, too.
Without any rest, the Lakers turned around on Tuesday and got past Jordan-Elbridge 14-6, its third win in four days.
Perhaps that tight schedule accounted for the way Skaneateles bolted out of the gate, building a 9-1 first-half margin before cooling off in the latter stages.
Ford led the way with four goals, while Beatson managed two goals and two assists. McNeilly and Navaroli also had two-goal outings as Roche, Davis, VanSlyke and Woodruff earned one goal apiece. Emily Bates paced J-E with three goals.
Skaneateles was rested by the time it played Friday against Homer, and a terrific all-around performance followed as the Lakers whipped the Trojans 19-4.
Up 10-2 by halftime, Skaneateles did not let up one bit. McNeilly and Ford led the way, each getting four goals and one assist, but there was much more help behind him.
Beatson, Davis and VanSlyke all had two-goal efforts, while Hannah Powers got a goal and two assists. Navaroli, Roche, Hannah Logan and Tate Green also scored, with Sophie Gorman adding an assist.
Having moved to 10-2, Skaneateles has its last regular-season home game on Monday, against Cazenovia, before a trio of road games commences Thursday at Marcellus and a May 16 showdown with defending state Class C champion CBA looms, too.
