The Skaneateles boys golf team got back into the win column last Monday, going to the Links at Sunset Ridge and beating Jordan-Elbridge 218-232 to start off a week where it won three times in four outings.
Nick Lee shot a 40 for nine holes, edging the Eagles’ Aaron Iddings by one shot for individual honors. Doug Pinckney shot a 42, while Jimmy Atkinson posted a 44.
That good feeling did not last too long, though, as the Lakers fell to Westhill 207-223 at Skaneateles Country Club. Pinckney posted a 41, followed by Matt Lee and Sean Farrell each getting 46 and Nick Lee earning a 50. For Westhill, Mike Marshall posted a 38.
Still at SCC on Thursday, the Lakers beat Solvay 194-251 as Pinckney nearly matched par with a 37, far ahead of the Bearcats’ top player, Zach Sweet, who had a more modest total of 47.
A rematch with Solvay followed Friday, at Pine Grove, but Skaneateles won again by a 202-227 margin. Atkinson led this time, shooting a 38, while Lee got a 40. Pinckney and Mike Jorgensen both shot 41 and Jeremy Fiffon added a 42.
In girls action, Skaneateles lost to West Genesee 216-220 last Monday afternoon, even though Kelsey Fenner took individual honors by shooting a 44.
Two days later, the Lakers bounced back Wednesday with a 201-207 victory over Cazenovia, pushed there by Fenner, whose 41 beat Cazenovia’s top player, Maggie Carpenter, by six shots, the exact margin of victory.
Then Skaneateles played a three-way match at Butternut Creek on Thursday, shooting 161 to again beat Cazenovia (167), but fall behind host Jamesville-DeWitt, who won with 137.
Grace Bentley, with a 38, and Samantha Magee, with a 39, both had solid rounds for the Lakers, but they were far behind J-D’s Molly Hair, who tore it up for a 29.
A busy stretch concluded Friday with Skaneateles beating Chittenango 215-231 at Woodcrest, led again by Fenner, who shot a 43 as Grace Magee earned a 51. This followed an April 25 match against Westhill at SCC where Fenner posted a 50 and Bentley shot a 54.
