Both of Baldwinsville’s track and field teams made the first of many trips to Cicero-North Syracuse Friday for the ninth annual C-NS Relays.
And each of the Bees’ sides would finish fifth, the boys picking up 31 points and the girls gaining 28 points. C-NS swept the team honors with 100 points for the girls and 92 points for the boys.
Nearly a third of the boys points came from seeing Alec Peinkofer, Connor Ross, Josh Perez and Andy Fleming team up to win the 4×800 relay in eight minutes, 39.71 seconds, nearly 20 seconds better than runner-up Liverpool (8:58.96).
In the 4×400 relay, Fleming, Nate Wicks, Dan Walker and Jeff Mahar claimed third place in a time of 3:36.17. B’ville also was third in the sprint medley relay, where Mahar, Wicks, Peinkofer and Rickey Sparks finished in 3:43.81. Tom Ancillotti and Pat McNamara got fourth in the discus with combined throws of 210 feet 5 inches.
Josh Perez, Antonio Martinez, Jack Martin and Nate LoParco would run in the mile relay, their total times of 19:51.65 leading to fifth place. Sean Marr and Greg Lefancheck took fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (2:16.12), with Lefancheck and Chad McArdell sixth (38.31 seconds) in the 110 hurdles.
On the girls side, B’ville would get a win in the 4×100 relay. The quartet of Gina Carnovale, Cierra Allen, Gabby Jordan and Angelica Tomasello needed 51.77 seconds to hold off runner-up Rush-Henrietta (52.04 seconds) and the rest of the field.
Also, the Bees nearly completed a 4×800 sweep. Kimmy Cushman, Rachael Miller, Dana Mitchell and Mackenzie Ross put up a time of 10:34.81, beating everyone except C-NS, who went to the top spot in 10:04.78.
Ross, Cierra Allen, Gina Carnovale and Gabby Jordan rose to third place in the 1,600 sprint medley in 4:31.08. In the 4×400, Quaneisha Ivey, Sarah Layton, Morgan Marshall and Marissa Lathrop got fourth place in 4:25.44.
