Skaneateles Board of Education vice president and three-term incumbent Kate Cogswell has decided not to seek reelection to the board this year.
“It’s time for a new perspective on the board,” she recently told the Skaneateles Press. “It’s great when different people in the community donate their time. There’s a lot of competent people in the district and in Skaneateles.”
Cogswell, who has been on the board for the past nine years, said another reason for her decision is that being a board member takes a lot of time.
“It’s been a wonderful nine years. I’m proud of what we’ve done. I’ve enjoyed every member I’ve worked with and that’s always a positive experience. I look forward to more people coming on,” she said.
Cogswell is the final BOE incumbent to make known her election intentions. Current board President Evan Dreyfuss confirmed last week he will seek reelection, while board member Michael E. Card will not.
