Construction of the retail, office and residential complex in the village of Manlius has been stalled for about six months, the developer said.
Michael Dougherty, developer of the Madison Row project, anticipates construction on the buildings to begin in late summer, after asking the village planning board for a six-month extension to begin.
The hold-up, he said, is finding an appropriate restaurant anchor for the plaza.
“In the last three weeks we have engaged a group that we think is a perfect fit,” he said. “I think we may have a deal to announce very shortly. Assuming that deal happens, our target date would be the end of August.”
Madison Row, located at the corner of Route 92 and Stickley Drive, is a four-acre development that will feature a two-story, mixed-use building along Route 92, a small public park, tree-lined sidewalks and a 100-space parking lot not visible from the main road. The development will go up at the former site of six homes along Route 92 that were acquired by Dougherty and demolished in spring 2011.
Construction on a separate Key Bank building started this week, with construction trailers and equipment being delivered Monday morning. Dougherty is partnering with JGB Properties on the overall site, but Key Bank is working with an independent contractor.
“We’re going to start seeing a lot more activity on the site,” he said.
Design, illustrations and concepts have not changed from the original, Dougherty said.
