The village of Skaneateles is in need of a new codes enforcement officer, and the village trustees are accepting applications.
This was reiterated at the March 22 village board meeting by Mayor Marty Hubbard, while clarifying the status of current codes enforcement officer, Eric Sell, who resigned in February but was apparently reconsidering his situation.
“His circumstances have gotten to the point where he no longer feels he can do justice to the job,” although he has agreed to stay on until a successor is found, Hubbard said.
Sell, who is also chief of the Skaneateles Fire Department, became CEO last October after the resignation of Elaine DuBois, who had held the position only seven weeks. DuBois had succeeded George Batlle, who retired as CEO in September after 27 years on the job.
Sell resigned as CEO on Feb. 9, with his resignation scheduled to take effect on April 1.
The village board is currently looking for candidates and accepting applications for the codes enforcement officer position. Letters of interest or resumes must be received by the board by Friday, March 30, since the board is hoping to hire a replacement at the April 2 reorganizational meeting.
“We hope that anyone interested will come forward,” Hubbard said.
