Baldwinsville Brownies are sweet as can be.
Brownie Troop 10319 recently delivered 402 sandwiches, which the girls made with the help of junior troops 10261 and 10130, as well as toiletries, clothes and extra jars of peanut butter and jelly to the Samaritan Center in Syracuse.
“As Girl Scouts, we are always discussing our Girl Scout promise and law,” said Heidi Fabian, a Brownie mom and leader of Troop 10319. “One of our Girl Scout Laws is to make the world a better place. The girls talked about and brainstormed how they could accomplish this goal.”
The troop decided to help the Samaritan Center on Montgomery Street because some of the troops’ members already volunteer there.
“There was a lot of smiling and laughing, as well as sticky hands and tables, as we were making all of the sandwiches,” Fabian said. “The girls felt good knowing they were doing something to help someone else.”
After finishing their sandwich making marathon, the scouts discussed the effects of their donation and how they were helping others.
“They knew they were living up to the Girl Scout Law that we have been learning about and discussing for the past few years,” Fabian said. “It was a feeling of pride and accomplishment.”
Kim Snow, another troop leader, delivered the girls’ donations this past November.
