Police have charged a 15-year-old with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest after an incident at Carousel Center.
Syracuse Police say the teen was part of a larger fight in the movies area of the mall Friday night. About 15 to 20 teenagers were in the fight. When police arrived, they saw one teen on the ground, who had appeared to have been knocked unconscious. Next to the teen were three live shotgun shells.
The teens in the fight dispersed and police officers followed the teens down the escalators. One teen tried to push officers away, but was ultimately taken into custody. During the altercation with police, the teen’s jacket fell off to reveal a sawed-off shotgun in the sleeve of the jacket, police said.
Because of his age, he is not being identified.
The injured teen refused medical attention and was released to his parents.
