A Syracuse city schoolteacher is facing sexual abuse charges.
Jesus Rolon, 34, of DeWitt, has been charged with first-degree criminal sexual act, endangering the welfare of a child, first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child and patronizing a prostitute.
The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office charged Rolon Tuesday. Police say he was working as a teacher at the Justice Center for about a month when two inmates recognized Rolon as having committed sexual acts against them.
The first alleged victim said Rolon committed a criminal sexual act on him in September 2010 when the inmate was less than 17 years old. A second accuser also came forward and told police Rolon paid him cash so Rolon could commit a criminal sexual act on the victim. Both acts happened in Rolon’s DeWitt home, the accusers said.
Police said both incidents happened prior to his employment as a teacher, through the Syracuse City School District, assigned to the Onondaga County Justice Center.
Rolon was arraigned in the town of DeWitt court and remanded to the Justice Center in lieu of $50,000 cash or bond.
