The Eagle’s own Herm Card is among four photographers whose work is on display through Feb. 17, at the Edgewood Gallery, 216 Tecumseh Road, on Syracuse’s East Side.
Besides Card, the exhibit focuses on photos by local lensmen Richard Emery, Larry Hoyt and Bill Sullivan. The Edgewood is also featuring artglass by Phil Austin and jewelry by Esperanza Tielbaard.

Readings: ‘Soft and White’
Syracuse poet Elinor Cramer will read from her new collection, “She Is a Pupa, Soft and White,” at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at the Downtown Writers’ Center at the YMCA on Montgomery Street. Cramer’s poems include timely seasonal verses such as “Walking on Snow.”
Jessica Cuello, author of the chapbook “Curie,” will also read at the Writers’ Center on Friday evening; 474-6851.
Hockey: Crunch Friday, Sunday
With newly installed coach Trent Yawney behind the bench, the Syracuse Crunch continues its 2011-12 American Hockey League season with a home game against the Norfolk Admirals at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at the Onondaga County War Memorial at State and Harrison streets, downtown.
After bussing down to Pennsylvania for a Saturday night scrum against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, the Crunch returns home for a 3 p.m. game Sunday, Jan. 22, against those same Penguins.
The Crunch is affiliated with the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks, while Norfolk is the top farm club of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton squad is the AHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Ticket prices for home games range from $14 to $21; 473-4444.
Music: Gospel open mic; Sitrus is swingin’; Americana jam band
The Community Folk Art Center will host a gospel open mic at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, hosted by the Dr. Joan Hillsman Music Network with participation from soloists from the Syracuse area and the Black Celestial Choral Ensemble.
The event will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tickets cost $5 and $2 for students. The Folk Art Center is located at 805 East Genesee St., on the city’s East Side.

Sitrus on the Hill, the recently renovated lounge at the Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel, is hosting a Friday-evening series called Jazz @ Sitrus. Stage: ‘Ganesh’ closes Saturday; Little Red rides again
“The Perfect Ganesh,” a comedy by Terrance McNally, closes this weekend at the Redhouse, 201 S. West St., downtown. The final performances are at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday Jan. 18-21.
The plot revolves around two suburban ladies as they traverse India in search of spiritual enlightenment. Directed by Steven Svoboda, “Ganesh” stars Laura Austin, Susannah Berryman, Adam Perabo and J.L. Reed. Binaifer Dabu provides musical accompaniment.
