The Jordan-Elbridge Board of Education approved a fund transfer tonight that will put $415,000 into the general fund to cover legal fees.
The $415,000 will be taken from a liability reserve fund to cover costs associated with a settlement, legal expenses in ongoing court matters and salaries for administrators who have been suspended with pay.
“That’s money we budgeted for in this coming year budget,” said Superintendent James Froio at tonight’s regular board meeting. “What that means is we can take that money and spend it on the kids. That $415,000 we earmarked [for next year] is now freed up to spend on kids.”
The board plans to present their budget to the public Feb. 1.
