The North Syracuse Central School District has announced that it will open the high school from 4 to 6 p.m. this afternoon, Sunday, Dec. 11, in support of the family of Taylor Fleming. The Cicero-North Syracuse High School student sustained serious injuries in an automobile accident Thursday, Dec. 8, when her car collided with another vehicle on Northern Boulevard.
“The gym at the school will provide a location for family and friends to congregate together,” said an e-mail from the district. “Counselors will be available to provide support to students and families in need.”
Fleming was listed in critical condition at Upstate University Hospital. A Facebook page, Pray for Tay, has been launched by her family so that friends and well-wishers can be updated on her progress. According to the page, Fleming has undergone surgery and is “fighting hard.”
In addition to the counselors at the high school, there will be a mass in Fleming’s honor at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Margaret’s Church in Mattydale.
