State Police will be targeting motorists using their cell phones while driving this Thanksgiving weekend.
The holiday weekend, which has the heaviest traffic volume according to the state police, will be heavily patrolled as the state police enact “Operation Hang Up.” The campaign targets motorists using their cell phone and other electronic devices, such as a GPS, while driving.
Cell phone use and texting while driving continues to be a known problem, the state police said. Using the devices is punishable by a fine of up to $100 and a $60 surcharge.
