After a counting of the absentee ballots this morning, Board of Elections Commissioner Ed Ryan says results of the close Election Day races remain the same.
“People who were ahead last Tuesday night are still ahead,” he said. None of the close races, which include those in Spafford, DeWitt, and the town of Camillus, have swung in the other candidate’s direction.
The ballots were unsealed and hand-counted this morning with representatives from both parties, who could make objections to any ballots that may have been filled out improperly or had stray marks.
The ballots still have to be run through the board’s “counter” for an official tally. Results are not expected to be certified until next week.
If representatives from the parties did not appear at the board of elections today, their results were not hand-counted and will be certified after the mechanical counting of the ballots.
