Incumbent Town Justice Kathy Dell handily won a second four-term to the Skaneateles Town Court today, defeating Democrat Tim Lynn by a margin of nearly two-to-one.
The results, announced at 9:30 p.m. to loud applause by the Republicans gathered at the Sherwood Inn Tuesday night, showed 804 votes for Dell and 441 votes for Lynn.
Final results from the Onondaga County Board of Elections, posted online Wednesday, Nov. 9, show the final vote totals to be 1,054 for Dell and 585 for Lynn.
Absentee ballots have not yet been counted in the race, but only 95 were requested, according to the Onondaga County Board of Elections, so the outcome will not change.
“It’s fantastic,” Dell said when the news came. “It was worth all the effort for sure.”
When thanking the people gathered at the Sherwood for their support, Dell said, “We stayed positive, and I believe that’s why we are where we are.”
Upon hearing the news at the Democratic headquarters at Johnny Angel’s restaurant, Lynn offered his congratulations to his opponent, saying, “I’m sure she’ll do a great job the next term.”
Lynn also thanked all his supporters. “They were very fervent. People worked hard on the election and things don’t always turn out the way you hope.”
The vote tallies as available Tuesday night, which were grouped by voting districts, showed in district 1, 2 and 3, Dell had 471 votes to Lynn’s 246 votes. In districts 4, 7 and 8, Dell had 146 votes to Lynn’s 106 votes. In districts 5 and 6, Dell had 187 votes to Lynn’s 89 votes.
In the uncontested races for town supervisor and town board, final vote totals show Supervisor Terri Roney received 1,264 votes, Town Councilor Jim Greenfield received 1,282 votes and Town Councilor Nancy Murray received 1,219 votes.
