Taylor Riley, Megan Harrington, Morgan Riley and Taylor-Rae Danforth helped the Jamesville-DeWitt/F-M girls gymnastics team earn the Section III large-school championship on Thursday night.
Overall, J-D/F-M had 166.90 points, while Baldwinsville (151.30 points) and Utica Proctor (127.775 points) took the second and third spots, respectively. East Syracuse-Minoa was third among small schools with 109.90 points as Whitesboro (158.775 points) finished in front.
On an individual basis, the gymnasts were separated into three levels, with Level 1 the top performers throughout the season.
Of t hem, Taylor Riley did best for J-D/F-M, with 35.85 all-around points. She had a 9.45 on uneven bars, 9.2 on balance beam and 8.9 on the vault. Harrington, who got 35.70 points, had a 9.7 uneven bars routine, second among individuals, adding a 9.4 on the beam.
Morgan Riley, part of the Level 2 competition, picked up 33.15 points, winning the floor exercise with 8.7 and second on the vault with 8.5. She also had an 8.5 on the beam for third place.
Danforth won the all-around portion of the Level 3 event, getting 33.10 points. She was best in the vault (8.3), beam (8.25) and uneven bars (8.1), adding a second-place score of 8.45 on the floor. ESM’s Kate McGarrity had 7.9 on the floor, while J-D/F-M’s Kristen Gamble had 8.1 in that same event.
Going head-to-head, J-D/F-M used top efforts from Taylor Riley and Harrington to beat ESM 142.1-115.2 in last Tuesday night’s local meet.
Riley took all-around honors with 37.7 points. She earned 9.6 on both uneven bars and Balance beam, tacked on a 9.55 in floor exercise and 8.9 on the vault.
As for Harrington, she put together 36.95 points, taking a close second to Riley on the uneven bars (9.6) and floor (9.5), plus a 9.05 vault and 8.8 floor routine.
Morgan Riley won the vault with 9.15, adding an 8.7 on the beam, while Danforth had 8.8 on the floor and 8.2 on uneven bars.
