After meeting for nearly two hours in executive session on Tuesday, Oct. 11, the Skaneateles Board of Education was not prepared to release the final investigative report — or any accompanying board decisions based on the report — regarding the high school football program.
At issue are allegations of illegal recruitment by Coach Tim Green and false residency of players on the team. The school board has been investigating the complaints since the end of the 2010-11 school year, after being contacted by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association and by Section III Athletics.
The investigation has become a divisive and impassioned issue for the school district and the town.
At the conclusion of the Oct. 11 executive session, Board of Education President Evan Dreyfuss released the following statement:
“We appreciate the community’s interest and understand their concern regarding this matter, however, the Board of Education believes this issue deserves more time and careful deliberation at this point.”
The board of education has not stated whether another executive session on the issue has been scheduled.
Its next regularly scheduled meeting is 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18.
