In advance of their second regular-season encounter this Friday night, the Cicero-North Syracuse and Liverpool boys soccer teams both found the win column twice.
Going to Auburn last Monday night, the Northstars took apart the Maroons in a 7-0 shutout, finding the net four times in the first half.
Darren Cooper, Bryan Sibble and Liam McDonnell each finished with two goals, while Willy Bertsch notched the other tally. Anthony Barraco earned an assist.
It was a lot closer in Wednesday’s game against Henninger at Gillette Field, but the Northstars still did enough to beat the Black Knights 2-0.
Both goals came in the first half, courtesy of Cooper and Anthony Barraco putting shots past Henninger goalie Ricky Kline. Colin Melveney added an assist as a stingy CNS defense held the Black Knights to just three shots.
Liverpool’s week commenced with an 8-0 romp over visiting Corcoran. This featured four goals in each half and a Warriors’ defense that hardly allowing the Cougars any opportunities.
Mike D’Agostino, with a goal and three assists, anchored the attack. Taylor Groginski found the net twice as five others – Joe Sheehan, Brnadon Horton, Bojan Anastovski, Joe Push and Mike Egan – also scored. Ryan Mollura and Owen Thompson joined Sheehan in the assist column.
On Friday, the Warriors blanked Oswego 5-0, a game that was close for a while before Liverpool burned the Buccaneers by scoring four times in the second half.
Groginski led that late push, scoring twice and adding an assist. Sheehan, D’Agostino and Mike Schneider had one goal apiece, while Horton joined D’Agostino with single assists.
