With each week, each meet and each strong effort, the Baldwinsville girls swim team reinforces its status as a championship contender in the CNY Counties League.
Now the Bees are 4-0 after hosting Liverpool Thursday night and, led by Kaitlyn Martin, put together a 53-41 victory over the Warriors.
For a long time, Liverpool dominated this rivalry, but a sign that things had changed appeared right away. In the opening 200 medley relay, Charis Parker, Abigail Whiting, Megan Eubank and Samantha Sidorakis won the event in 2:04.51, giving B’ville a lead it would not relinquish.
Martin took over in the 200 freestyle and won that event in a time of 2:07.38. Later in the meet, she proved her endurance in the 500 freestyle, earning a second victory in 5:44.63.
Parker also gained valuable points for the Bees. After a close second (2:25.94) to Liverpool’s Madison Sestak (2:23.95) in the 200 individual medley, Parker would all but seal her team’s win by swimming the 100 breaststroke in a top time of 1:13.97.
B’ville would also go 1-2 in two separate events. Emma Atkinson won the 100 butterfly in 1:11.01, with Chandra Hewitt second in 1:12.12. And in the 100 backstroke, Samantha Sidorakis edged Amy Sidorakis, 1:07.69 to 1:07.88.
Eubank would finish second in the 50 freestyle in 27.57 seconds, and would also team with Martin, Parker and Elena Margrey to post a time of 1:49.88 in the 200 freestyle relay.
The Bees take that 4-0 mark into next Wednesday’s trip to the Nottingham pool, where it will take on Fayetteville-Manlius. B’ville is tied for first in the CNYCL with West Genesee, though the two sides won’t meet until Oct. 25.
