Take a walk through historic Solvay on a tour led by Preservation Association of PACNY President Jeff Romano at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18. Meet at the Book Cellar, the site of the old Pozzi’s Hotel, 1701 Milton Ave.
“Participants will learn the history and architecture of places that still exist as well as some that no longer survive,” Romano said.
Solvay was founded in 1794 by immigrants interested in manufacturing soda ash in the United States.
The original producers of soda ash were the Belgium brothers Ernest and Alfred Solvay, hence the village’s name.
