The Cazenovia Town Board held their latest regularly scheduled monthly meeting the evening of June 13, with over 20 residents in attendance at the town office on Albany Street.
Town councilors swiftly moved through the meeting’s agenda, as few items required much discussion, and many resolutions were quickly approved by the board.
The board unanimously approved the use of approximately seven miles of Ridge Road for the Cazenovia Hill Bender Fall Classic, to be held Oct. 1.
The race will begin at Chittenango State Park, riders will travel through the towns of Sullivan, Lincoln and Fenner before stopping at Cazenovia College and heading North on Ridge Road. Both 19 and 39 miles course will be available to cyclists.
One heavy equipment operator position was eliminated from the Cazenovia Town Highway Department. Staffing will be reduced by one position at the town garage. The department currently maintains 60 miles of roadways within the town of Cazenovia. During the winter season, staff sands and salts all roads as well as 25 miles of Madison County owned roadways.
The town board appointed Connie Sunderman to the position of Zoning Clerk, and Secretary to the Planning Board as well as the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Town Clerk Linda Mather appointed Sunderman as the First Deputy Town Clerk and First Deputy Tax Collector.
During the second public communication, Owera Point Road resident Ann Baroody addressed the town councilors on behalf of 29 homeowners at the Northern end of Cazenovia Lake.
On May 2, property developer Bill Camperlino filed a declaratory judgment action against O-we-ra Water-Works Transportation Corporation at the Madison County Clerks Office. The private water company is owned by the 29 residencies that receive water from the system Camperlino wishes to connect to.
The developer owns two parcels of land in the area which he is interested in developing. The residents affected have enlisted the assistance of local Esquire Chris Fischer. The case is currently slated for the Madison County Supreme Court. Fischer said the OWWTC has made a motion to dismiss the complaint in front of the judge on Aug. 26.
