Since 2006, The Cazenovia Forum has been the proud sponsor of a free public lecture series, featuring incisive, timely, cutting-edge presentations of national and international interest to Central New Yorkers. In support of these efforts, The Cazenovia Forum is delighted to present “The Ivory Tower Half Hour” for a live round table discussion and fundraiser from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Sunday June 5 at Johnny Appleseed Farm, just 10 minutes from the village of Cazenovia.
“The Ivory Tower Half Hour” is a lively, smart weekly public affairs television program broadcast on WCNY, Syracuse’s PBS station, that addresses local, national, and international news and events. Hosted by David Rubin, former dean of the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, the panel of experts features Kristi Andersen, the Chappel Family Professor of Citizenship and Democracy at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University; Tim Byrnes, professor of political science at Colgate University; Lisa Dolak, the Angela S. Cooney Professor of Law at the College of Law, Syracuse University; John Robert Greene, the Paul J. Schupf Professor of History and Humanities at Cazenovia College; Tara Ross, professor of history at Onondaga Community College; and Robert Spitzer, the Distinguished Service Professor of Political Science at SUNY Cortland.
The June 5 evening will begin with the “Ivory Tower’s” insightful panel presentation followed by an open question and answer session. How many times have you wanted to follow up on a statement made by one of the panelists speaking on the television program? Here’s a chance to do just that. After the Q&A, there will be a reception where you will be able to meet the panelists personally to further the discussion, plus there will be hors d’oeuvres, a variety of beverages, a light supper and dessert.
Every two years the Cazenovia Forum, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, holds a fundraising event to support the free Forum series and accompanying receptions. This past spring’s extremely successful Forum speakers were Peter Bergen, CNN terrorism specialist, and Danny Zuker, co-executive producer/writer for the hit television series “Modern Family.” Attending “The Ivory Tower Half Hour” June 5 event is an opportunity to insure that the Forum will continue to offer high quality, free programs. Tickets for the event are $50 or $75. For more information, please call 655-9374 for ticket availability or visit cazenoviaforum.com.
