Those Stotans are at it again.
Four members of the Fayetteville-Manlius girls indoor track and field team went to New York City for last Friday’s New Balance Indoor Nationals at the Armory Track & Field Center – and earned a victory in the distance medley relay.
Under the Stotan Racing banner, the quartet of Katie Sischo, Heather Martin, Courtney Chapman and Jillian Fanning (Heather Zazzara was the alternate) charged to the front and never surrendered the lead.
F-M finished in 11 minutes, 39.58 seconds, beating Shenendehowa (11:46.73) by more than seven seconds. It was the fourth-fastest time in the New Balance Nationals’ 13-year history, less than a second behind the mark Saratoga Springs (11:38.60) established in 2010.
Martin, Chapman, Fanning and Sischo were all part of the F-M girls cross country team that won a fifth consecutive national championship last December in Portland, Ore.
In alumni news, Mackenzie Carter, who is running for the University of Washington, finished 10th in the mile in the Pac-10 championships with a time of 4:53.15.
