On a season-long win streak, the West Genesee cross country teams wanted to continue that trend, both inside and outside the CNY Counties League. First, the Wildcats met Utica Proctor last Wednesday afternoon and won handily on both sides, beating the Raiders 18-43 in the boys meet and 17-44 in the girls meet. Billy Gabriel led a total sweep of the boys race, his time of 16 minutes, 15 seconds ahead of teammate John Delallo by 20 seconds. Martin Leff was third in 17:08, well clear of Matt Byrnes in fourth place (17:23) as Matt Serrao got fifth place in 18:07. Not far behind Serrao, Matt Gonella slid into sixth place in 18:15, just ahead of Brett Smith in seventh (18:19), while Mark Reilly gained eighth place in 18:41. Ethan Osborne (18:50) edged out Luke Potash (18:53) for the ninth spot. As she had done all season, Laura Leff pulled far away from all the other girls runners, WG and Proctor alike, the freshman finishing in 19:05. Far back of her, Abby Kastick, in 21:29, beat Anna Leo by six seconds for the runner-up spot. Kelly Powell, in fourth place (23:05), led the next pack as Alex Incaudo and Mary McGlynn both hit the line in 23:13. Alycia Andolina was seventh (23:17), ahead of Morgan Farmer (23:50), Lauren Brieant (24:02) and Jessica Emmanuelli (24:30) in the top 10.
