The village of Elbridge has purchased new signs to post at Seymour Lofft Park on Sandbank Road. The shrub pile at the park is a public service that some residents have begun to take advantage of, as seen in the wood planks and discarded furniture pictured.
Trustee Allen Webster coined what the signs would read at a special village meeting held Tuesday July 20: “Woody plants, leaves, and grass only.”
The village used to pay to have the woody material mulched but now has an arrangement with DeMarco & Sons nursery in Elbridge. DeMarco produces mulch from the discarded branches, free of charge to the village, and gives 10 percent of the mulch back to the village of Elbridge.
