Cazenovia village officials approved a smoking ban in parts of some Cazenovia parks in order to protect minors from cigarette smoke at a meeting July 7.
The board voted unanimously in favor of a bill prohibiting smoking at Burton Street Park, within 30 ft. of the swimming area and bath house at Lakeland Park, and within 30 ft. of the bathroom facilities and playground area at Lakeside Park.
The draft law had a ban of 50 ft., which was reduced to 30 ft. so as not to encroach on the baseball field at Lakeside Park, where many adult league players regularly smoke.
