Amid a powerful field, the Baldwinsville girls track and field team stood up enough, earning fourth place at Wednesday’s CNY Counties League National division championship meet at Cicero-North Syracuse’s Bragman Stadium.
The Bees finished with 86.5 points. Meanwhile, the host CNS Northstars won with 172.5 points as Utica Proctor (139 points) and Liverpool (119 points) earned second and third, respectively.
Laura Farleman dominated the pentathlon, winning all five events and accumulating 2,891 points, well clear of CNS’s Brooke Binion (2,269 points) and the rest of the field.
B’ville also emerged victorious in the 4×100 relay, where Gina Carnovale, Paige Corso, Allie Vroman and Gabrielle Jordan finished in 51.04 seconds, upsetting Rome Free Academy (51.15) for that top spot.
Jaimee Balloni, Jordan Perrone, Julia Johnson and Ashley Shaheen earned second place in the 4×800 relay in a time of 10:21.60. Quaneisha Ivey, Mackenzie Ross, Alyssa Hingre and Morgan Marshall were third in the 4×400 in 4:12.94.
Anne Peterson was third in the 3,000-meter run in 11:23.95, and claimed fifth in the 1,500-meter run (5:11.64), where Shaheen was seventh. Mallory Warner was fifth in the 3,000. Balloni, on her own, got fourth place in the 800-meter run (2:27.22), with Perrone in fifth.
Jordan finished third in both the 100-meter dash (13.20 seconds) and 200-meter dash (27.40 seconds), with Carnovale fourth in the 200 (27.59 seconds) and fifth in the 100. Ross landed in third in the 400-meter dash (1:02.97), while Ivey was fifth and Hingre sixth. Lydia Darling took sixth in the 400-meter hurdles.
In field events, Erica Miller was fourth in the discus, throwing it 93 feet 11 inches, while Alexi Pateras took fifth in the pole vault (8 feet) and triple jump (32 feet 8 3/4 inches). Guilianna Madonna got sixth in the high jump.
