Mayor Stephanie Miner presented trophies to the winners of the annual Hiawatha Lake Fishing Derby Saturday at Onondaga Park.
The prize for largest fish of the day went to Corcoran 10th grader Jaqun Bivens for a 27 inch catfish weighing 7.21 pounds, and Zoe Rubacha, 12, picked up the prize for smallest fish of the day at 4 1/2 inches, weighing 7 ounces. Other first place prize winners were Gabriella Jenkins, 4, in the 8 years and under group and Deijah Richardson, 10, in the 9 to12 age group.
The Hiawatha Lake Fishing Derby has been held for over forty years, and was sponsored by the city of Syracuse Department of Parks, Recreation and Youth Programs, with additional support from the Anglers Association of Onondaga and media support from 93Q.
