Wildcats rip Proctor, await F-M clash

West Genesee’s boys lacrosse team spent much of last week in intense practice mode.

The Wildcats’only game on Thursday was a 32-2 romp over Utica Proctor, serving as the team’s 10th win in a row.

Getting all the hard work done early, WG had 17 unanswered goals in the first quarter alone, an average of a goal every 42 seconds. By the second period, everyone on the Wildcats’ roster was seeing long-awaited playing time.

That allowed Ian Farley to earn five goals and two assists, with Ryan Tinklepaugh getting four goals and two assists and Brandon Dzonkowski posting two goals and five assists.

Dylan Donahue (five goals, three assists) had the most points as Corey Herrington and John Glesener each had three goals and three assists. Tim Barber added two goals and two assists as Dan Ginestro also scored twice.

Matt Schattner, Chris Murphy, Connor Khammer, Sean Biggie and Jake Sutherland took turns scoring, with Tim McMahon adding three assists and Casey Schattner getting two assists.

A day later, WG took a bigger step toward a possible top seed in the Section III Class A playoffs without having to do anything.

Fayetteville-Manlius, 13-0 at the time, lost 8-6 to Corcoran, meaning that, when the Hornets meet the Wildcats in Thursday night’s regular-season finale in Camillus (two days after a game with Rome Free Academy), that no. 1 seed could be at stake.
