Long before the Christian Brothers Academy softball team faced Mexico last Monday afternoon, Jordan Sheridan had proven her worth with a series of shutouts in close contests.
About the only thing Sheridan hadn’t done was throw a no-hitter — but not only did Sheridan pull that off, she was flawless in the Brothers’ 7-0 victory over the Tigers on Monday afternoon.
Twenty-one Mexico batters faced Sheridan — and all 21 went down as the CBA freshman threw a perfect game. The defense only had to make two putouts as Sheridan accumulated 19 strikeouts in her gem.
It stayed 0-0 until the fourth inning, when the Brothers scored twice, and would tack on runs in each of the next three innings, too. Kaitlin Mcintyre had three of her team’s 10 hits, including a triple, and finished with three RBIs as Kelly Bewley added two hits and three RBIs. Sheridan and Marissa Mosley each drove in one run.
As for CBA’s baseball team, its win streak continued at Mexico, the Brothers knocking off the Tigers 16-6 as it got six runs in the first inning and led 13-3 by the time the third inning was done.
Bryant Moore brought the power, with a home run and four RBIs. Riley Dixon, Pete Corasaniti, Dave Anderson and Anthony Cirillo each drove in two runs as Pat Wiese doubled twice. Cirillo also pitched and earned the win, with Luke Alletzhauser seeing extended relief duty.
