All kinds of work lies ahead for the Baldwinsville girls lacrosse team, who are spending the April “spring break” week playing four times in six days, including a weekend trip for two games in the Pittsburgh area, plus games against Fayetteville-Manlius and Oswego.
To set that up, the Bees earned a pair of wins, starting with last Tuesday’s trip to Corcoran that saw plenty of offense generated in a 19-7 victory over the Cougars.
It was 10-2 by halftime, B’ville winning most of the draws and constantly in an attacking mode. Erin Ward and Becca Guzzo both finished with four goals, while Samantha Yaro had three goals and two assists. Maggie Monnat had a career-best six assists.
Sarah Clark also found the net three times as Maggie Monnat, Claire Monnat, Bridget Florack, Mackenzie Kjerstad and Taylor Pastore each had single goals. Katie Sullivan and Meg Haney earned assists, too.
Two days later, the Bees were even more productive in a 24-3 destruction of Rome Free Academy, shutting out the Black Knights in a 13-0 first half to set the tone.
Nine different players had mulitiple goals, and Maggie Monnat’s generous streak continued as she topped her Corcoran total, earning seven assists.
Clark scored four times, adding an assist, while Gentile and Pastore posted three-goal hat tricks. Yaro, Guzzo, Kjerstad, Claire Monnat, Alexis Czyz and Meg Haney each scored twice, with Yaro posting three assists. Sullivan had one goal and one assist as Ward also converted.
