Baker’s Keep the Ball Rolling (KBR) has grown bigger than the ball itself.
In an effort to keep Baldwinsville students safe, the Baker High School PTSA has organized an all-night, alcohol- and drug-free celebration that will immediately follow the Saturday May 29 senior ball.
“This event will provide safety to our kids and kids in the community,” said Laurie Noll, a volunteer with the PTSA. “From the entertainment to prizes, this event is something that everyone has a vested interest in including the kids.”
Held at Baker High School, the theme of this year’s KBR celebration is Hollywood After-Party and will feature a performance from the band 4point0, as well as numerous other activities to keep students entertained including giant Twister, Sumo wresting, laser tag, movies, ping pong, Can-Jam and more. Refreshments, including an ice cream sundae bar, will be available to participants.
In addition to entertainment, students will also be eligible for prizes such as computers, TVs, gift cards, electronics, dorm and graduation supplies and more, which will be drawn all through the night. Local businesses and individuals have donated and continue to donate prizes to the cause.
“We’re very grateful for how generous everyone has been,” Noll said about businesses and individuals alike. “Our goal is for every senior to go home with something that night.”
The event will culminate when the grand prize, a certified used vehicle, is awarded. Generously donated by Burdick Automotive BMW, Ford, Lexus and Toyota-Scion, the vehicle includes sales tax, registration fees and a limited power-train warranty.
KBR will be held from 12:30 to 4 a.m. at Baker High School. All Baker seniors are invited whether they attend the senior ball or not. There will be a nominal $5 fee charged, which is included in the price of the senior ball ticket. Seniors not attending the ball can also purchase their KBR tickets from April 5 to 16 when senior ball tickets are on sale.
