Summer trips for Everson Members feature art, history, theater and more!
The Everson Trip Committee, a volunteer organization, has planned several overnight trips for the 2010 spring and summer season. The Everson Trip Committee offers an art experience May 18 to 20 in Connecticut; the 18th
annual Stratford & Niagara-on-the-Lake theater trip June 16-18; and the 15th annual trip to the Chautauqua Institute Aug. 8-13.
Travelers on the Connecticut trip will experience outstanding art, interesting architecture, gorgeous spring gardens, fresh seafood and Mystic Seaport. Special highlights of the trip will include a guided tour of the
Lyman Allyn Museum in New London, CT, the Caroline Black Botanical Gardens, and the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, CT. The cost for this trip is $875 per person double occupancy, $950 per person single occupancy.
The 18th annual trip to Stratford & Niagara-on-the-Lake will be a theater extravaganza which will have something of interest for everyone. The trip will feature four great plays offering music, laughter, tears and romance.
These classic plays include: “Kiss me, Kate”, “The Tempest” starring Christopher Plummer, “Evita”, and “An Ideal Husband.” The attendees will also enjoy a Morning Round Table at the Queen’s Inn with actors from the Festival Theater. The price for the Stratford & Niagara-on-the-Lake trip is $795 per person for double occupancy and $895 per person for single occupancy. This trip includes all four plays, overnight accommodations at the Queens Inn at Stratford, six meals, coach transportation, all entrance
fees, and all tips and gratuities at the hotel.
The 15th annual trip to the Chautauqua Institute will enlighten participants during a week focusing on the theme “Sacred Spaces,” offered in conjunction with the World Monuments Fund. It will examine the sacred spaces of the Abrahamic traditions, the communal spaces that define civilization, and the sacred spaces in the personal that provide peace amid chaos. Among the speakers will be a well known historian, Ken Burns, as well as Pulitzer Prize winning author and architecture critic for the New Yorker, Paul Goldberger. Comfortable accommodations and meals are included, as well as transportation. The cost for this trip is $1,552 per person double occupancy, $1,727 per person single occupancy.
