WG swimmers’ win streak hits 20

Make that 20 consecutive meet wins for the West Genesee boys swim team.

In its last outing of January, the Wildcats went to Baldwinsville Friday night and, paced by Ben Seketa, Pat O’Donnell and Carson Elias, produced a 52-41 victory over the Bees.

Elias began the meet by helping O’Donnell, Tyler Olsen and Brendon Marks blaze to a winning time of 1:47.30 in the 200 medley relay.

Then, in back-to-back individual races, Elias struck again, needing just 22.64 seconds to take the 50 freestyle and wining the 100 butterfly in 55.06 seconds.

Seketa began by posting a first-place time of 1:48.74 in the 200 freestyle. He then claimed a victory in the 100 freestyle in 49.73 seconds and would team with Elias, O’Donnell and Kevin Taylor win the 200 freestyle relay (1:34.93).

O’Donnell would swim the 200 individual medley in 2:06.14 and, later in the meet, claim the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.64. Connor Agen would step in and, in a time of 5:25.89, prevail in the 500 freestyle.

WG can complete another undefeated regular season Wednesday when it hosts Nottingham, two days before the annual Wildcat Invitational.
