The Spring, a center for spiritual and cultural unity in Fayetteville, is hosting a series of retreats at the former Joseph Scala Art Gallery in New Woodstock.
The first retreat will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday Jan. 8 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday Jan. 9. The cost of each two-day retreat is $100, ten-percent of which is a tax-deductible contribution to The Spring. Retreats will also be held at the same times Feb. 12 and 13 and March 12 and 13. Those who attend all three retreats will receive a $25 discount.
Patsy Scala, program director at The Spring, will be facilitating.
“The retreats are an attempt to give people longer periods of time to work on spriritual work,” Scala said. “Understanding more about their lives and who we are in the world.”
The retreats are interfaith, said Scala, and appropriate for those of any or no religious background who are spiritually oriented.
They will feature snacks, with a vegetarian lunch on Saturdays.
The Jan. 8 and 9 retreats will focus on issues of purpose, Scala said.
“Who are we? What impact do our biography and history have on our destiny? What techniques do we use to find our place in the world?” she said.
Attendees will considering biography and destiny through painting. Scala emphasized that the only painting talent required is “the ability to put color on paper.”
February’s retreat will focus on desires, while the March retreat will involve intuition.
