Morrisville State College’s hunt seat equestrian team opened the 2009-10 season with a third place finish at Hartwick College Saturday afternoon.
Morrisville State finished the competition with 32 team points while having 11 riders place in the top three on the day, including first place finishes by Emma Monte, of East Rochester, in the novice on the flat and novice over fences classes along with Kathryn Galyon’s, of Pearl River, first place in the beginner walk trot canter class, her first show of her career. Monte also tied for high point rider for the show.
Brianne Elias, of Baldwinsville, was second for the Mustangs in open equitation over fences, while Grace Falconer, of Port Washington, followed with a second place finish in intermediate equitation over fences. Karli Wimmer, Brackney, Penn., turned in a second place showing in the advanced walk trot canter class.
Chelsea Stanbro, of Buffalo, Emma Perreault, of Falmouth, Mass., Allison Soukup, Pine Bush, and Breann Schwarting each turned in third place finishes for the Mustangs.
Skidmore won the show with 43 points, followed by Ithaca in second with 36.
Morrisville State returns to the riding arena Saturday Nov. 7 at Cornell University in Ithaca.
