Baldwinsville’s boys volleyball team used two more wins to lock down its first-ever CNY Counties League regular-season championship. The Bees had to go through a tough battle with Fowler last Tuesday night, but still beat the Falcons in four games. After a 25-16 win in the first game, B’ville got the key points in a 28-26 second game. Fowler answered by taking the third game by that same 28-26 margin, and nearly forced the match to the wire before the Bees claimed the fourth game 26-24. Ryan Shelton got the main work on the back line, earning 25 assists, four kills and three aces. Pete Cuppernull and Kyle Lattanzio each had seven kills, with Zach Racha and Rob Sharfstein each earning four kills. Sharfstein also had five assists. On Thursday night, the Bees made the short road trip to Liverpool and worked its way to a 25-11, 25-17, 25-12 sweep of the Warriors. Dan Dubiel resumed his front-line domination, putting up 13 kills. Lattanzio had eight kills, while Jarrett Reaume picked up six kills and Kyle Thayer got four kills. Racha (three kills) and Matt McKee (three aces) made contributions, too, as Shelton finished with 27 assists and four aces. B’ville’s girls team played, too, sweeping Corcoran 25-5, 25-4, 25-14 on Wednesday night. as Paulina Rein put together an astonishing 14 aces, plus five kills. Brianna Stewart (10 assists) and Megan Collins (six assists) shared back-line duties with Jenna Blujus, who had seven aces to go with her six assists. Lauren McVey, Allegra Bell and Elizabeth Giromini and and Brittany Anselment each had three kills.
