The Committee for the Future of the Village of Marcellus will hold a public forum at 7 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 27 in the Marcellus Free Library Community Room to gain input from the community. Patrick Cox, one of seven committee members, said the forum would serve both to introduce the committee to residents, as well as provide community members an opportunity to guide the committee in its research. Since its establishment earlier this year, the committee has been meeting every other Tuesday and has met three times, Cox said. In spite of the committee’s formal name, the group has taken a community-wide focus, referring to itself as the Committee for the Future of Marcellus. The forum will be an open format for audience members to ask questions about the committee and its purpose, Cox said. The committee plans to present its findings to the village board at the Dec. 8 committee meeting. The committee was formed by the village board this summer to examine the efficiency of the village government as an independent unit. Members were appointed by the board and include John Bednarski, Brud Wilson, John Curtin, Chuck Paul, Kathleen Carroll, Patrick Cox and Mike Plumpton. Cox said an additional committee member would probably be added during the coming week.
