Oct. 2 Syracuse Behavioral Healthcare Training Institute will be bringing in nationally acclaimed author, professor, and clinical psychologist Lisa Najavtiz.

Najavitz is the author of Seeking Safety: A Treatment Manual for PTSD and Substance Abuse. This is an evidence based focused therapy to help people attain safety from trauma /PTSD and substance abuse.

Developed by Najavitz, this practice has shown positive results in all studies completed to date.

Najavtiz a Harvard Medical School lecturer and Boston University Professor, is published in over 125 publications and has received a variety of National Institutes of Health grants, including an Independent Scientist Award.

“A few years ago when we started using the principles from Lisa’s “Seeking Safety” program at the Willows we saw sharp increases in patient retention and other clinical outcomes,” said Jeremy Klemanski President & C.E.O. SBH.

The Syracuse Behavioral Healthcare Training Institute opened in 2007 and serves to provide training and education to SBH employees and the community at large.

The Training Institute delivers 450 hours of credentialing to individuals working toward their Credentialing in Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counseling (CASAC) and those renewing credentialing.

SBH is excited to have Najavitz here to provide training to employees, students, and community providers.
