Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I–Pulaski) will hold his first annual Senior Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 at the Camillus Senior Center at 25 1/2 First Street, Camillus.
The event is free of charge and will offer free flu shots, health screenings, and tests, including hearing tests. In addition, organizations will be on hand to answer questions and provide information regarding health care, housing, safety, and much more. Free refreshments will be included.
“With all the talk about health care, I felt we could use this fair to highlight all the good efforts being done today by community groups and health organizations in the Central New York area,” said Barclay. “We have partnered with several organizations to create a ‘one stop’ location where seniors can get a flu shot, have their blood pressure monitored and hearing checked. I hope people take advantage of the opportunity.”
Regional Medical Services in Camillus will provide flu shots. Oviatt Hearing will provide hearing tests. P&C Foods’ corporate dietitian will be on hand to answer questions about healthy eating. The company is also providing complementary refreshments for attendees.
W.A.V.E.S. Ambulance is providing free blood pressure screenings. They are also going to give out “Life Vials” provided by Kinney Drugs. The life vial is a valuable tool that helps first aid responders by listing all the medications and health conditions a victim may have. W.A.V.E.S. will also be able to answer questions and help seniors with questions they may have about DNR (Do Not Resituate Orders).
