The Appaloosa Horse Club of Moscow, Idaho recently announced the final year-end results for the 2008 horse show season. Lauren Jaquay of Hamilton and her horse, Senorsbaileyedition, also known as Bailey, earned the top spot to be first in the nation in 12 and under barrel racing and also first in the nation in 12 and under Pole Bending. The team was also fourth in the nation in Figure 8 Race and eighth in the nation in Keyhole Race. Lauren and Bailey, a 12 year old Appaloosa Gelding, have been training together for three years. They competed in horse shows in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Lauren was also nationally ranked with her pleasure horse, Don’t Zip This, also known as Zippy. In Zippy’s first year of showing, the pair were fifth in the nation in 12 and under Huntseat Equitation, a class that is judged on the rider, and also sixth in the nation in 12 and under Hunter Under Saddle, a class that is judged on the horse’s way of going. Lauren was named to the Youth Achievement Roll for the Appaloosa Horse Club, and she and both of the horses earned a Youth Register of Merit in several classes.
Lauren’s younger sister, Kallie Jaquay, and her horse, Just Do It For Dad, also known as Justin, were also nationally ranked for the season. Kallie and the 15-year-old buckskin gelding were second in the nation in Walk/Trot Figure 8 Race, fourth in the nation in Walk/Trot Barrel Racing, fourth in the nation in Walk/Trot Pole Bending, and fifth in the nation in Walk/Trot Keyhole Race. Kallie was named to the Youth Achievement Roll, Kallie and Justin were named Youth Versatility Champion Horse, and they earned a Youth Register of Merit in several classes. Both girls train with Becky Frost of Munnsville, Gary and Jennifer Cunningham of Auburn, and Johanna Fox-Bossard of Fabius.
