Catholics from the Syracuse Diocese are being asked to gather Saturday, June 20 in the Bishop Harrison Faith Center as part of the efforts to halt the parish reconfiguration process.
The meeting, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., is being held to develop a plan to request that Bishop Robert Cunningham halt and reevaluate the Reconfiguration of Parishes process and create with the people of the diocese a new vision for the future.
Peter Borre, chairan of the Boston-based Council of Parishes (councilofparishes.org) will be the key speaker. His organization has been successful in motivating and organizing the laity that resulted in significant change in the reconfiguration process in the Boston Archdiocese.
He will share what worked and what didn’t in the Boston Archdiocese.

8:30 a.m.: Registration
9 a.m.: Welcome and agenda review
9:15 to 10:15 a.m.: Sharing concerns from parishes that have been affected by the reconfiguration process
10:15 a.m.: Break
10:30 to 11:30 a.m.: Presentation by Peter Borre, chair of the Boston-based Council of Churches, followed by a Q&A session
11:30 a.m.: Break
11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Strategy session and wrap-up
Peter Borre is a Catholic-educated, multilingual Harvard graduate with an MBA from John Hopkins. He has been active in the energy industry throughout his business career both in the private and public sector. He has received numerous awards, including a Presidential citation from the President of the United States and decorations for meritorious service. He served in the U.S. Navy as a commissioned officer. Borre is married with three children.
Parishioners from 12 parishes in the Syracuse Catholic Diocese are sponsors of this event.
