Both of East Syracuse-Minoa’s track and field teams proved successful in last Wednesday’s meet against Cortland. On the boys side, the Spartans prevailed 98-43, and while the ESM girls had a tougher time, it still beat the Purple Tigers 78-62. Lenny Kerznowski won twice in the boys meet, clearing 10 feet in the pole vault and unleashing a top long jump of 18 feet 6 1/2 inches. He also helped the Spartans’ 4×100 relay team prevail in 45.3 seconds. Jaquan Williams, who was also in the 4×100, won both the 100-meter dash (11.7 seconds) and 200-meter dash (24.1 seconds). In a distance sweep, Craig Andrianos won at 800 meters (2:11.2), Mike Coogan in the mile (5:01.0) and Dylan Courbat (11:10) at 3,200 meters. Andrianos, Coogan, Christian Larrabee and Zach Stenuf teamed in the 4×800 relay (9:26.0) as Chad Goyer joined Stenuf, Larrabee and Coogan in the 4×400, where ESM won in 3:46. On his own, Larrabee took the 400-meter dash (53.8 seconds) as Andres Salcedo ran the 110 high hurdles in 17.5 seconds. Andy Kirkpatrick added a win in the discus with a toss of 105 feet 5 inches. In the girls meet, Cara Andrianos took the 400 hurdles (1:18.0) as Amanda Wall won the 400-meter dash (1:06.9). Wall and Andrianos both were in the 4×400 relay (4:41.3), as Andrianos also teamed with Amanda Crandall, Megan Steinberg and Andrea Riedman to win the 4×800 relay in 11:35. Charlotte Visser won twice on her own, taking the 1,500-meter run (5:31.0) and 3,000-meter run (12:03.3), while Riedman needed 2:46.2 to prevail in the 800. Meghan Visser won the shot put (26 feet 10 inches) as Tori Burns cleared 6 feet 6 inches in the pole vault.
