Both of Canastota’s track and field teams took turns racing to the front during last Friday’s CBA Brother Basilian Invitational, held this year at Syracuse University’s track because CBA’s Alibrandi Stadium is getting replaced.
Robbie Argentine dominated the boys 3,200-meter run, the only runner to break the 10-minute mark as he won in 9:52.35. He also helped the Raiders’ 4×800 relay team hold off Tully by 1.5 seconds with a top time of 8:29.5.
Alex Lang beat the field in the triple jump, going 41 feet He also ran to second in the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.7 seconds, just behind Tully’s Tom Haskins (16.5) and was third in the 400 hurdles in 59.2 seconds. Lang also helped Canastota’s 4×100 relay team take third in 47.3 seconds.
Jeff Willis ruled in the pole vault, clearing 12 feet, as Argentine got third in the high jump by clearing 5 feet 6 inches.
Aaron Walker had to settle for second place in the mile, his time of 4:35.13 just behind Nate Weber (Tully), who won in 4:34.18. Nick Darcangelo was fifth at 800 meters as the Raiders got to third in the 4×400 relay in 3:41 flat.
Allison Lasnicki worked her way to wins in both the girls 1,500 and 3,000-meter runs, as Lasnicki claimed the 1,500 in 4:53.60, more than two seconds clear of CBA’s Katie Brislin, and dominated the 3,000, winning in 10:46.28.
Francesca Popple helped by finishing fourth at 800 meters (2:36.88) as the Raiders took fourth in the 4×800 relay and sixth in the 4×400. Ashley Delaney took sixth in the triple jump, going 28 feet 10 inches.
