Troopers and roosters in Elbridge

During a special meeting called Monday April 20 by the Elbridge Village Board approved an award to the New York State Barracks not to exceed $1,500 to develop architectural plans for improvements to the barracks on Route 5. The barracks are village-owned and have needed an upgrade for more than a year.

The board established a five-day waiting period, which ended Friday, for the owner to claim the 13 rogue roosters rounded up near Bush’s Funeral Home on Main Street last week. The roosters were caught by hand by Trustee Chris DeCola and residents; a local farmer took them in temporarily until the owner could be found.

If the owner did not come forward by the end of the waiting period the roosters would remain with the farmer, unless the SPCA came forward to help out, the board ruled.
