Announcing its return to the local scene after a successful spring break in South Carolina, the Canastota softball team unleashed its bats on Morrisville-Eaton last Thursday afternoon in a 22-1 rout of the Warriors.
All the Raiders did in the top of the first inning was bat around and produce 10 runs, a stark contrast to the cold, windy conditions. So it continued the rest of the day, culminating in a six-run seventh inning.
Alicia Hibbard and Liz McGinley led Canastota’s 20-hit attack, each of them driving in four runs. Lindsay McGinley drove in three runs, while Samantha McCarthy, Alexis Havens, Felicia Puchales and Samantha McCarthy each had two RBIs.
Jessica Patterelli had a busy afternoon, too, pitching most of the way (she combined with Liz McGinley on a one-hitter), plus earning two doubles and an RBI. Brianna Quaglia and Jessica DeNova drove in runs, too.
