Perhaps the Liverpool girls lacrosse team believed that it was catching Baldwinsville at just the right time when the two sides met last Saturday afternoon. After all, the Bees were just coming off a dramatic 9-8 win over West Genesee two nights earlier that had put an end to the Wildcats’ 52-game win streak, and they were just hours away from boarding a plane for a spring-break trip to California. Yet if the Warriors assumed that B’ville would have an emotional letdown, it would prove to be mistaken. From start to finish, the Bees handled the Warriors in a 16-4 defeat, only allowing one goal in the first half and building a big early margin. Alison Flood, Marybeth Madia, Jennifer VanderMeulen and Kristina Lombard took turns scoring, but none of them could get more than one goal against a swarming B’ville defense. Meanwhile, Mikey Meagher absorbed a day-long attack from the Bees, making 18 saves. Still, the Bees had too much, as Kara Moschetti led that side with four goals and two assists.
