Beth Jarrett has been named the Syracuse Chiefs’ athletic trainer for 2009. The 33-year-old Indiana native is the first female athletic trainer in International League history and only the second woman to reach the Triple-A level.
Jarrett has been an athletic trainer for the past 16 years, including the last eight seasons in the Washington Nationals’ organization. She has worked for Washington’s minor-league affiliates in Clinton (2002), Savannah (2003-2004) and most recently Harrisburg (2005-2008).
After beginning her minor-league baseball career as a bat girl for the Indianapolis Indians, Jarrett went on to attend Indiana University and graduated with a degree in kinesiology in 1997.
