With a busy week of activity, the Cicero-North Syracuse girls lacrosse team intended to shake off its season-opening April 3 overtime loss to Baldwinsville.
Reversing itself, the Northstars jumped ahead of Christian Brothers Academy Monday night at Bragman Stadium, then held on down the stretch to beat the Brothers 13-11.
Paced again by Tori Praino, who would finish with three goals and three assists, CNS threatened to run away in the first half, eventually building a 9-4 edge going into the break.
Still, CBA fought back, making it a close affair in the second half behind the work of Katie Webster, who led both sides with five goals. But Alex Gale made nearly twice as many saves as her counterpart, Emma Taylor — 11 to six — and in a tight game, that would matter.
Alyssa Cristaldi earned her own three-goal hat trick, with Ashley Waldron earning two goals and two assists and Emily Bryerton also finding the net twice. Ashley Capparizzo put up a goal and two assists as Rachel Geruso got one goal and one assist. Sarah Allen scored, too, displaying the Northstars’ depth.
