CNS hoops teams both beat RFA

Each of Cicero-North Syracuse’s boys basketball team are in good form as the regular season nears its end.

Fresh off shocking Fayetteville-Manlius the night before, the boys Northstars, with zero rest, stayed at home Friday night to fly past Rome Free Academy in a 69-45 decision.

By holding the Black Knights to six points in the second quarter, the Northstars started to get away, and a 25-13 push through the third quarter secured another win.

Both John Howell and Andy Falvey finished with 15 points. The help came, too, as Brett Smith gained seven points. Eric Munoz and Josh Williams each ahd six points. RFA had Tim Abone earn 13 points and Tom Williams add 12 points.

Meanwhile, in girls action, the Northstars improved to 15-2 with a solid effort at RFA, beating the Black Knights 58-44.

Through a well-played first half, CNS steadily claimed 27-14 lead, something it would hold, with some variation in the margin, throughout the last two periods.

Marybeth Egan had 17 points, including three 3-pointers, while Breanna Stewart worked inside for 15 points. Brittany Paul earned 11 points as Shannon Hickin added six points.
